chatter we cannot cling to the old dreams anymore

It’s Friday, which means all sorts of things. For most it sets the countdown clock before beer-o-clock. For me it just means that I get two days of not sitting in front of two computers (just the one) and a reboot of To Do list and reports and *head on desk* I need a mini vacation I think.  That and to slip Theo something so he sleeps beyond 4am every morning. I guess the best way to do that is to keep him up and awake until 930 or 10… but you can see my dilemma. Get sleep now or get sleep later. Luckily I am a moderate morning person, so it isn’t TOO bad getting up this GORAM early, just… annoying.

SS_Hummer2SpacesGoodbye Hummer. May you rest in pieces.

Seriously, I do like them, not for Soccer Mom transport, but all the nifty can-go-anywhere-if-you-get-the-robust-model not thesuper-fly-bling-model. And the whole self inflating tires thing always made me lament. Because, when the world societyends it would be better to have a Hummer than a Prius. *flame me sure, but you know it’s true* Can you imagine trying to off road in a Prius? Or one of those mini cars? I mean really? And how can you feel safe when a horde of zombies has you surrounded? This is common sense people. You’ll want something huge and metally. Right? It’s just a thought. *shrug*

And hey, I love Orca (get it right asshats call them by their actual name! stop being bigots! Respect the Whale!) Whalesas much as the next person. Okay, maybe considerably more, as I hail from the Great Pacific Northwest where we have pods of Orca living in the waters here, and I totally have an Orca tattoo on my arm (which is awesome and thus makes me more awesome) but seriously. WILD animals are just that. No matter how much fish you give them, one day they will freak out, or play a little rough. Just ask Siegfried and Roy. I’m sad to hear that the young trainer lost her life, but did one think that a giant creature stuck in a tiny little pond forced to do tricks in the name of science (it’s clearly all about the BenJahmins) would not be the happiest of little mammals. And when something that is weighed in TONS wants to play? A little 100+ lbs person is going to end up hurt. I get hurt when my 30+ lb dog plays rough. Do the math. It is not cool to keep something locked up and expect it to be docile. Okay?

COMPANY X was totally getting on my last nerve yesterday, to the point where I had to do the one thing that my job sort of looks down on me doing. Which is saying an outright NO. Generally in the business world the rule of the day is to say NO, but say it in a way that it comes across as you saying that someone else, above you, in control who has the power (he who controls the spice controls the universe) said no. So you are still seen as an advocate and go getter. But, yeah, there are those times when the idiosynchrocies of a request are so backwards and illogical, that I slip and say NO. Which… yeah. No I can’t tell you why I said it (pesky rules) so you are probably just looking at the screen with glazed over eyes. Sorry about that.lots-212

Ooh! Pretty!

My way of helping get the eye glaze to skedaddle. Gaaaaa. I love Cara and Kahlan and their interactions. TV and Book ‘verses. I just started reading The Temple of the Winds again last night. The whole beginning is Cara / Kahlan -riffic. *happy fangirl noises*

I’m not mad per say that Felicia Day will be otherwise engaged and not attending the ECCC. Srsly, I’m not. I respect her as an artist and a creator and hell everyone needs to eat (and thus work) so I get it. I was just fangirl pouting for a few hours. But it will work itself out in the end, and happiness will be had. There will be squeees of joy and laughter I am sure at ECCC this year. I just wanted to be sure to put that out there, because, I wouldn’t want you all to think I am that crazy angry sort of asshole. At least not all the time. *smirk*

Okay. Time to get to work. Yay!

chatter i wonder why, it’s a brand new day

How or why it became Thursday I will never know (apparently there is this whole theory about the earth moving around the sun and that is how we keep track of time) but wow, it’s here already? I have been caught unawares.

oh shit… new foamy. Respect the Squirrel!

Re-watched Epitaph One (Dollhouse) yesterday. *insert caterwauling against FOX* There could have been so much more they coulDH_Ed have done on that show if allowed. But you know how people lament something ending before it’s time… what would have happened if they let Joss run with the ideas and they petered out and jumped the shark? Then where would we, the rabid fans, be? I’m just asking. Also, I so wanted to hand Felicia Day a brush through the whole episode. WHAT? I like my female stars to have perfect and shiny hair. This is part of the mindcontrol appeal of Kahlan, don’t you know. And, hello fan girl SQUEEE, in like a week I will be standing amid crowdamages-season-two-stare-inds and oogling Felicia at the ECCC. Totally awesome.

Tonight will be a Damages night, because disk two of Season Two just arrived in the mail. With all that I will certainly get through the day.

And if that isn’t enough, the promise of working on some Fuffy later will certainly do the trick.

chatter What in the name of Joss Whedon was that?

Felicia Day; we love you. We being all the gazillions of people out on the interwebs. (and when I call it interwebs does that make me sou013-editnd more and more like a noob trying to sound oh so hype. Probably. But hey. I am what I am) I am not sure how much of a hand Felicia had in the writing of the script for the NASA clip, but I think there is a bit of it there. Or a Whedon-ite was on staff. It has to be. Because it was educational fun. And all should know I love and adore educational fun. Expand your mind. *nods* Check out the hilarity below.

And! It’s Tuesday, which means there is a new The Guild episode up. Head over to you ZUNE account (snicker) and watch it!

I ha300-castleBDSven’t yet watched last night’s Castle episode, so don’t spoil me and I won’t spoil you. In DVR-ing Castle on Monday nights it sort of brings this little giddy joy back to waking up on Tuesdays, knowing that if I have the time I will be watching a fun show. Granted it is not Buffy (nothing is really) but, I do enjoy good, fun TV on Tuesdays. It is what it is. *nods* So, I will be watching the episode later… I hope. Oh, and that I DVR Castle, does that show the world that I am a touch of a fuddy duddy, being in bed by 9:30 pm? Perhaps. But I will do my best not to dwell on it. I am super excited about TV at this time of year, and having TV shows doing their Halloween episodes. It… just… I don’t know. Hm. It just makes the shows more campy and fun. I adore campy fun. I should. Hell I am reading ‘Chaos Bleeds’ – (Buffy based book on the video game, which is AWESOME!) So I know the camp. Some what tangent about Buffy: I am totally excited about getting my Buffy site  updated. I know it will seem like meh to the viewers out there… but I will just be so happy to have it done and see it all sparkly and new… and then you KNOW I will start planning the Spring update. LOL. Keep on keeping on. *wink*

BSG junkies! You know what today is! The Plancomes out on DVD today. Totally. Awesome. I know you have all picked it up, or ordered it. Now let’s join together in our nerdiness and oh and ah over a little slice of the BSG verse.

Oh! SonyaSunny: No secret where I am from. And no secret where I am now. But, could the secret be are you a spambot or a human? ;p

And I know you were wondering:

What’s For Dinner?

I am thinking tonight will be chicken teryiaki, rice, and a yummy salad. Easy, healthy, and yummy as hell!

chatter call me still clever

The month of October was supposed to be sort of a lazy hazy month where intellectual things could be accomplished. And yet…. AND YET (she says) it seems like madness has dropped a load of anarchy into my life. From going to customer sites for work (last week i3458640483_93b022287b_mt was TG, which totally creepy basement, and when you think about places with creepy basements Hospitals aren’t normally on that list; unless you are like me and have played some of the Silent Hill & Resident Evil games, then in which case you are even more creeped out than everyone else) and then next week I am off to help out at a certain large company here in Washington that used to just sell books on line but has expanded. I may have fun and excited stories to tell about that. But OH! Add to it that we had the new washer and dryer installed last week, which was AWESOME… and then we discovered that there is a weird mysterious leak coming from somewhere and ending up inside of the dryer vent, which is NOT AWESOME, so I have inspection / repair guys coming out today for that. Then we have carpet being installed on Friday, which sounds so much cooler and relaxing than it is, with the whole, where the hell is all of our stuff going to go???? Errrr. Interesting. And then work, I am still sick with this flu, and my brain is spasming on an hourly basis, and I have this 20 email long chain of events that makes no sense on a given normal day, so add my muddled mind and it is insanity times two. AND then you have the coming holidays to think about and it all boils down to the simple fact that there are not enough damn hours in the day to accomplish all the things one HAS to do, as well as getting to the things one WANTS to do.

Ah, the madness of a busy ass month.

So, that being what is, let’s have some of the links I have been collecting! (drum roll)

APPROVE71smsquare-147x150So it is pretty clear I am staunchly on one side of the debate that is Ref 71 here in Washington. There is a lot of news (oxymoron word now) outlets that are pretty much in favor, and pretty much against. There doesn’t seem to be any real grey area on this topic. Which is a positive thing. I do wonder, if this gets shut down as Prop 8 was, what will be the next course, and for how long will people still think it is okay to deny one segment of people equal rights… do we have to keep waiting even longer than women did for equality, and the racial divides? We, the gays, have been waiting through all of it, and still we wait for the day when we are considered 100% American, with all the rights that come with that.  APPROVE REF 71!

Felicia Day is still as awesome as ever! Check out this good interview in WIRED. I smile a silly smile when I see the Sears commercial (which hasn’t been on that much lately, odd) and this week’s episode of The Guild was completely awesome! Oh deary me. It was rad! I am going to load all the previous episodes on my Zune and play them back to back on the TV for Mare very soon, so she can get all caught up. And I am also going to get the DVD, because we need to support all things good and entertaining. Take that NetWorks! (networks stands for dull, idiot suits today) Now go to The Guild and catch up too!

What’s For Dinner?

I am on the fence, as in not sure. The chicken last night came out AWESOME and I will be using the left overs and bones to make a kick ass chicken soup this weekend. But for tonight I am on the fence. I kind of want to make Thai Red Curry with Chicken and brown rice… or I will old school and make Mac n Cheese. Who knows.
