chatter just to have one yesterday

OSCARS  tonight! Woot. Color me excited, though still not sure how I am going to manage the viewing with Puppy School smack in the middle of them. I’ll figure it out. At least I am more fortunate than the folks in NYC who have Cablevision and therefore no ABC right now. Shame on you Cablevision and double shame on you Disney!

Anyhoo. I am in the middle of writing, so can’t go on about something, so I will save my Sunday topic for later in the week. Instead, OSCAR update: I watched two more movies nominated for Best Picture.

Inglorious Basterds - saw it. Not impressed. This is what a nominee for best picture is now adays? It was too long, and a little boring, and well… it did not evoke in me what I would expect from a best picture. Instead it was okay, and I think the actor’s ability to move from english to french to german and back was worth the cost of watching it. Aside from that? Nothing new. Nothing amazing.

The Hurt Locker – okay, I was expecting a lot more from all the hype. While some of the visuals were stunning, the story didn’t go deep enough to make me care about the characters. I don’t think this is due to the subject; I’ve watched mDistrict9-2Cany war movies; I just didn’t get their motivation. While it made the me think we need to get the hell out of Iraq, that was about it. And I was already thinking that so, *shrug*

Of the movies I have seen on the list, District 9 still is the best in my uninformed opinion. See, I even said so here, and why.

We’ll see what happens…

So new news is all about, news-like things. I have been an ostrage as of late, because one can only take hearing about the same things over and over again before you crack. And when you crack you go and start doing crack-ish things. So, I am in avoidance mode for now.

But, WTF with Toyota? Seriously? It’s taking them like forever to fix the problem, and now everyone is waving flags of malcontent from all sides making it into a big cluster fuck of nonsense. Oh, sure, buy American. That’s the answer. Hey, guess what? I bought an American car truck SUV thing. And pop my hood and you will find… non American parts and logos all over the place. So really, I thought that in this day and age we were the global market place, so this whole buy American thing? Only looks good on paper. How about you go buy American when you get a TV? Or when you get your new cellphone, or! OOOOORRR when you shop at Walmart? What? What? Ooooh, right. Not American. *piffle* Please. Do some research before you climb up on that pedestal (and check the pedestal, it will say made in China Pakistan India Taiwan take your pick) Once Americans stop being lazy when it comes to physical labor, then maybe we can buy American and mean it. (this rant is brought to you by the letter F, as in Fuckin morons. I have seen the American workers in action, and they read the paper and update Twitter like the dickens!)
Yeah, osterageing is good for the soul.

And me, I am just sitting in my non physical job pushing buttons and all that jazz.
*smirk*

This week is sort of a wasteland when it comes to TV. *cue melodramatic tears* Last night it was all about Keeping up with the Kardashians, and that was about it. Nothing much on. YES! I know NCIS was on, but I was tired, etc, so I will watch it later today during lunch. What happened in Paris?? I think we all know, but will they tell us?

angst
I’m sort of trapped in ANGST land in my writing. Which, can be good or can be chock-full of insanity. I think my brain is slipping, last night I dreamt about our duo slayers battling Kahlan and Cara… which… WTF? It was awesome!

Oh, just remembered something. I am a fan of Dead Like Me, the TV series, aside from the actress who plays George… face smash what… So I DVR’d the Dead Like Me movie last week, I only sat through about… 30 minutes of it? I mean, it was off of TV thus all the fucks naughty words were bleeped out, which hello annoying, but what was more annoying? Everything. Was Impressed Not. But funny factoid? The beginning credits? Used the ‘Slayer‘ font. No shit. Did they have to pay someone royalties for that? Seriously, everyone who is anyone I am sure noticed.

What’s For Dinner:
weekly recap! As I was a tool and didn’t blog about it
Monday:Ginger Carrot Rice (OMG so good) with ginger peppered orange roughy and salad.
Tuesday:Grilled polenta with braised chicken breast in a rich tomato sauce (tomato sauce is vague, more like an amped up herbed version of my standard marinara sauce)
Wednesday:Tonight will be BLTs, bear style. Saawweeett!

chatter we are living in a material world

I went to the movies over the weekend and we saw “avatar” you know, like apparently everyone else in the world. I will say this, it was pretty, and the glowing little bits and pieces in 3D were cool. But it should have been made into two movies. It was a little long for me.*shrug* Plus the whole lack of plot, all I remember from seeing it are the nifty floating things. Huh. But, I was one of the masses.
(I liked UP in 3D better, shhh don’t tell) and I am looking forward to seeing Alice In Wonderland (though would like to see the evil Alice movie much more. When are they going to make that one???)

Today’s Tuesday, so new chapter was loaded first thing. And so  comes the nerves, etc. Though it is getting better, I am remembering what this whole schpiel was like back in the day. You sweat and slave over a story, then load it and worry it isn’t good and then you never hear a peep from the readers. It’s a cycle. I remember it now. Moving on.

Some video of Theorunning amok will be loaded later today I think, and so there may be a link from here in the future. So you can see him in all this insane chow glory. Yay!

In lots-210-84LotS news, last weeks episode was meh in my opinion. Maybe I am being too hard on the TV show versus the books. Shame on me.  But see,  as I am at the end of (re)reading the second book (the stone of tears) it makes me remember how utterly badass kahlan is, and well, they are working on the show to make her badass, but it is still a far cry from her, in white wash, naked on the back of a horse killing hundreds of soldiers of the Imperial Order. Total BadAss Mother Confessor. And with a week break I am looking forward to the next installment. Until then I am finding all these new entertaining and sort of hilarious things regarding the fandom. Like!  And you HAVE to check out ‘Gay For Kahlan’  and ‘Sword of Lies’. Seriously. Hilarious. A lot of work goes into these to make them seem like they don’t. And they amuse me. Ah, the joys of fandom.

That is all. Now back to month end reporting and all that fun stuff.

I onOpenGravesly got through the first 20 minutes of watching Open Graves. *frown* Even Eliza’s dimple and that smile that says so much was not enough to make me sit through anymore bad dry line reading by that ugly boy actor. Plus… I just knew there would probably be kissing / and then death. And I don’t want to see that. Not with my Eliza, and not when I am in the throws of writing Faith FanFiction. It just is not done. *nods*

Did watch Mercy though. I like that show… very with the much. it was sad, and funny, and heart warming, and depressing, and HELLO! Mrs Gilmore. I miss the Gilmore Girls. I think Lauren Graham has a new show starting soon. I need to look into that. Hopefully it will be broadcast online, via Hulu or something similar. As we will be hacking and slashing the cable very soon. It will be weird, what ever will I blog about if not TV? I know, you are shocked. I understand.

I also caught snippets of the SAG awards last night. Have to say, didn’t see a lot of the people I love… but  Sandra Bullock’s acceptance speech **EDIT, the vid is MIA. So here is what was said: “If this were only not televised so I could use the appropriate words I’m feeling right now,” Sandra said while accepting the Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role award. “Jesse, you get dressed up in monkey suits and sit at tables with people you don’t know…”I love you so much and you’re really hot and I want you so much.” See? That was just awesome andpPriceless and so very real and lovely. Jesse is lucky. She is lucky. Hell we’re all lucky.

Aside from that it was a television wasteland last night. Seriously. I thought about ordering a PPV movie, something trashy like Jennifer’s Body, but I don’t do scary well, and certainly not when I am home alone. *looks around* What? I can only be a badass so much of the time. The rest of said time my chewy center shows.

Today will be full of chores and if I am lucky more writing.

I brings me to a state of euphoric bliss… I know I read that somewhere.

So today is Twilight mania day, because apparently some new movie is coming out where everyone stands around all pale and broobuffy-staked-edwardding and moody and young teen girls scream and squeal and cry and fawn over lame-o actors with their shirts off and no one really acknowledges that the story is unoriginal and boring and a little on the freaky weird side. (vampires that glitter in sunlight? SERIOUSLY?) I am not one of those people, do they have a name? Something akin to a mob mentality I think fits best, so yeah, I am not one of those people. And while I am super stoked that these books are getting younger people to read (because apparently Americans don’t really read anymore?? WTF) I am never ever getting close to these books, because I am afraid the lameness will leech out and infect me. Now, for all the new vampire hubbub out there, I may read the Sookie Stackhouse (TrueBlood) books some time, because they seem a little more ‘cannon’ and real. Plus, I hear the Queen is gay, (as was seen in Season Two) which is kinda nifty. But Twilight? Yeah no. I think that image sums it up best.
Because seriously. If you are going for that brooding vampire mystic, you should have learned your lesson. It’s been done. And it’s been done better. Word.buffy_angel_7

As it is Friday, whichdollhouse_2 was known as DOLLHOUSE DAY, but is currently not, yet will be soon again (for a short while until the pull the plug and the lights go out at the Fox Studio) This is a fairly awesome blog post about dollhouse. I was contemplating for some time writing up a post as to Why Dollhouse Mattered, and what made it so good. But then I find things like this and I am all, huh… they did it better. So focus on them. (see how magnanimous of me that was?). Also there is a pretty good article in NY Mag, which didn’t bother me when I read it. And that is how I judge things I read. Did it make me want to hurl, or growl. No? Then it was probably pretty good. So yay! There may be Dollhouse watching tonight, or if not perhaps some sort of Whedon viewing. There are choices. Got to love DVD box sets. *grin*

Last Night was BONES night, the one claw that Fox still has in me. Because darn-it I LOVE me some CAM!!! She has the best expressions. Hands down. And what’s with Booth and Bones. Everyone knows they are jonesing for each other but they don’t think they have a chance, and so they keep doing this awkward teenage dance. Which is cute, don’t get me wrong. But I wonder what will happen when they do hook up. Will it be sweet and adorable and an AAHHmoment, to then be twisted around by some horrible event? (Ala Angelus anyone?) Hmm. I am intrigued. One thing I am not intrigued by is V… I still haven’t watched this week’s episode. I am just not feeling it. Which… a bummer.  I’ll give it another chance, because I am nice like that. But it better get is mojo working or I will just stop watching, like I did with Flashforward.

Now it’s time to get back to work. Much to be done in a small space of time. Which is all of the good. I love being productive and all that. Though one counter point to my productivity is the second round of antibiotics I am on. They make my joints swell up like I’ve been belly up at a $1.00 Chinese buffet. But without the reward of having a full belly. Bah! Oh well, 8 days left.
