chatter i know what boys like

So new news is all about, news-like things. I have been an ostrage as of late, because one can only take hearing about the same things over and over again before you crack. And when you crack you go and start doing crack-ish things. So, I am in avoidance mode for now.

But, WTF with Toyota? Seriously? It’s taking them like forever to fix the problem, and now everyone is waving flags of malcontent from all sides making it into a big cluster fuck of nonsense. Oh, sure, buy American. That’s the answer. Hey, guess what? I bought an American car truck SUV thing. And pop my hood and you will find… non American parts and logos all over the place. So really, I thought that in this day and age we were the global market place, so this whole buy American thing? Only looks good on paper. How about you go buy American when you get a TV? Or when you get your new cellphone, or! OOOOORRR when you shop at Walmart? What? What? Ooooh, right. Not American. *piffle* Please. Do some research before you climb up on that pedestal (and check the pedestal, it will say made in China Pakistan India Taiwan take your pick) Once Americans stop being lazy when it comes to physical labor, then maybe we can buy American and mean it. (this rant is brought to you by the letter F, as in Fuckin morons. I have seen the American workers in action, and they read the paper and update Twitter like the dickens!)
Yeah, osterageing is good for the soul.

And me, I am just sitting in my non physical job pushing buttons and all that jazz.
*smirk*

This week is sort of a wasteland when it comes to TV. *cue melodramatic tears* Last night it was all about Keeping up with the Kardashians, and that was about it. Nothing much on. YES! I know NCIS was on, but I was tired, etc, so I will watch it later today during lunch. What happened in Paris?? I think we all know, but will they tell us?

angst
I’m sort of trapped in ANGST land in my writing. Which, can be good or can be chock-full of insanity. I think my brain is slipping, last night I dreamt about our duo slayers battling Kahlan and Cara… which… WTF? It was awesome!

Oh, just remembered something. I am a fan of Dead Like Me, the TV series, aside from the actress who plays George… face smash what… So I DVR’d the Dead Like Me movie last week, I only sat through about… 30 minutes of it? I mean, it was off of TV thus all the fucks naughty words were bleeped out, which hello annoying, but what was more annoying? Everything. Was Impressed Not. But funny factoid? The beginning credits? Used the ‘Slayer‘ font. No shit. Did they have to pay someone royalties for that? Seriously, everyone who is anyone I am sure noticed.

What’s For Dinner:
weekly recap! As I was a tool and didn’t blog about it
Monday:Ginger Carrot Rice (OMG so good) with ginger peppered orange roughy and salad.
Tuesday:Grilled polenta with braised chicken breast in a rich tomato sauce (tomato sauce is vague, more like an amped up herbed version of my standard marinara sauce)
Wednesday:Tonight will be BLTs, bear style. Saawweeett!

Unbenounced to me I have become a hoarder. A hoarder of digital images, but a hoarder nonetheless. Not sure how that makes me feel, you know in the big picture scheme of things.
Should I be worried?

Oh and what makes it worse; I found my temp files and there are a GAZZILLION images. The ones I look at but deem unwanted for my collection? They are apparently on my machine anyway. WTF Microsoft, or whatever. *scratches my head* It’s just weird I tell you.

The TV repair person is due some time in the next 5 hours. (And don’t you love that when you have a repair person or whatever scheduled to come to your home, they give you this massive window of time where they could be arriving? It boggles my mind, because what if I did not work from home? What if John Q Public had to take time off of work to wait for a repair person. You’d have to take nearly an entire day off… how is that logical?) So I have high hopes that the little TV will be good as new soon. I hope so, because we are going to send back the rental TV in the next few days… so we may just be without …. dare I say… TV? At least the status quo will be upheld through Friday. Because we have to watch the series finale of Dollhouse. Have too.

Oddly, I am like threNCIS-ncis-5458179-800-600e weeks behind in watching NCIS. Which is so out of character for me. Usually I am watching it in real time. But, as 8pm seems to be the time of the night when Theo has a melt down, just sitting and watching TV has become impossible. I miss my Ziva and Abbey. And Gibbs! *sigh* I think for my lunch break today I will catch up on at least one episode. Either here (here being computer) or on the TV, depending on the aforementioned repair person.

God. I am a Nerd.

I’ve sort of been skirting around the news of the day, because with all of it piling up it seems to polarized people more and more. Plus it just doesn’t seem to be good news. Will we, as a collective society, look back on this time with interest or apathy? I don’t have that answer, I only know that I am much more focused right now on what is going on in FarmTown on facebook than I am the news of the day.

Cutting out the frustrations of life, one millimeter at a time.

I have to say, NCIS: LA is sort of lame. I pretty much don’t watch it. And I am not sure why that is. I like the cast, there is just something missing. Now the original NCIS is a smorgasbord of goodness, and it is enpauley-perrette-ncis-actresstertaining as well as emotive. It is good fun TV. But! last nights NCIS:LA was good. And I think we all know why. They had the cherry on top. I speak of Abby Sciuto!! (as played by Pauley Perrette) I just love the smart, quirky Abby. And how could you not? I mean come on. Little industrial, goth, emo, scientist with a caffeine addiction. Perfect pairing. For sure. So her cross over to the NCIS:LA was what made me stay up an extra hour later to watch. Sure now I am feeling the repercussions (sleeping pills do demand their 7.5 hours of sleep, and make you moody when you don’t get the allotted amount) But I persevere. Makes it easier that I am off work! YAY! That’s right, I am on vacation for the rest of the week, which is totally awesome. I was going to do my Christmas shopping today, but well, the household dynamic has changed, so I am not sure when I am going to be able to get out of the house on my own for a couple months. LOL. But it is SO worth it. The house dynamic change that is. And I will tell you about it later. For now know it is AWESOMENESS!!!

Speaking of AWESOMENESS. Look what I found this morning!!! Julie Andrews will return to the stage. You don’t even know on how many levels jpy oozes out of me because of this. I cried when I heard her voice was gone (singing that is) mostly because she was for me the personification of perfection growing up. Perhaps it was my age, or the movies (Mary Poppins & Sound of Music) but she is just this huge cornerstone of my developing psyche. So, GO JULIE! I am so glad to hear this.
I know I am not the only one who remembers this. Because it was totally awesome! I loved when we would drive into town a couple times a year and go to the McDonald’s and they had this massive playground with all these awesome toys / rides. From the giant Officer Big Mac that you could climb inside and hang out in his bun, or Grimace that you could get bouncing back and forth like a snazzy earthquake. They were some of the best playgrounds. And now they are all just habitrails turning kids into hamsters. Which is so not as cool nor as creativity inspired. I thought playgrounds were about fun and adventure, not running in tubes. Call me cynical. Sometimes I wish things would go back to how they were, where you didn’t have kids in protective bubbles, where as a kid you knew, that if you used something in a way it was not meant to be used that you were going to get hurt, and therefore you DIDN’T DO IT. Kids today just have no concept of self preservation (outside of video games) and so we must protect them from themselves? Er, no. Let the kid smash a finger. They won’t do it again. (please don’t send me hate mail. I will just ignore it.)

Ooh. Speaking of video games, I am still bumming that there aren’t enough hours in the day to play WET  which I got like the day it came out and it is still in the plastic! Grr. But maybe one of these stormy weekends we can hang out at home and play. *fingers crossed* And it may happen too, now that there will be no going out for about, er, a month or so. Maybe two, It depends on things. See, I am being cryptic again, but I will tell you when I feel the time is right. *evil grin*In the interum maybe I will play Buffy later today. Because….. I can! HA!

Now I know there hasn’t been any ‘What’s For Dinner?’ lately, which is because I have not been cooking anything note worthy. And this is because we have a new home dynamic (that I mentioned before and am not going to talk about yet) And this is sort of lame. I miss tinkering in my kitchen. It is where I do my best work, LOL. Tomorrow will rectify that, some what. We will have all the fixin’s and I am so excited. Not only about eating, but about the cooking as well!!! yay!

W4D::Thanksgiving edition!!

Turkey Roast (perfect with white, dark meat and skin.) Mashed potatoes, gravy, yams (candied with spices and honey), crescent rolls with crumbled bacon and swiss cheese filling, green bean cassorle (because it is tradition!), stuffing (whole wheat this year), cranberry sauce (I do the homemade kind)  and pumpkin pie (which Mary will be making from scratch). Bring on the food, movies, and fun times!!

Until I blog again, have a wonderful holiday, reflect on what you are thankful for and remember, it may be a ritual sacrifice, and it may be a sham with yams, but it is still all about family and twisted patriotism.

TV on Tuesday’s is sort of awesome. Because NCIS is on. Which I adore. Though I am not big on the new NCIS. Call me silly. But it is just odd, that I am not into the other one. Maybe I should give it a cNCIS-ncis-5458179-800-600hance, like I gave NCIS, which I used to mad dog people who watched it, and then I watched it and I was hooked! I love Gibbs! He is is Dad we all wanted. (sorry dad, but it’s true!)

And I love my girls. Ziva and Abby. And the boys, Tony and Timmy, and DUCKIE. It’s fun, exciting, and then bam, it gets emotional. Which gets me right in my guts. Sniffles abound.

That! My friends is Good TV! Mark it.

I am still entrenched in this whole working and then rushing down to TG to work there. And no I won’t tell you until later what TG is. Mwahahaha. So, I have a little bit of time before I need to head out. After today, we have tomorrow to go and then I will be back to the norm. AND! Friday is delivery day! Hot damn!!! The new Washer & Dryer will be coming. Very very cool.

There is a lot of entertainment news buzzing around. So much so that I will leave it to the others out there in the world to talk about. Because if you are like me there are certain names that you are hearing lately that make your brain scream and then shut down. Here, test it… Letterman……..(eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeerrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn) see. Brain shut down. Due to overload. I will spare you from that. For now. Annoyingly, Eliza Dushku was on Letterman (eeeeeeeeeeeeerrrrrrrrrrrnnnnnnnnnnn) last night, so I will have to watch more than I want to of him, just to see her.

And OMG. Did you see the latest episode of The Guild? You should. HI-larious.

and back to something more regular:

What’s For Dinner?

Tonight, cereal. LOL. Mare’s at school so not much cooking for me.

Last night I made chicken teriyaki. But wait! I made the teriyaki sauce from scratch. Oh yes I did!

Sunday night, I made Moroccan beef stuffed in Acorn squash. (recipe Ala Martha, queen of the world) which was actually pretty awesome.

Saturday night, was homemade beef stew, with turnips, carrots, and potatoes. It was tasty!

… and if you noticed that the blog has been just not as crisp the last few days, WP has been updated and I am learning the newness of it.

Topical TV… so there is an NCIS spin off in the works, and the last two NCIS episodes were the “setup” for it. I was not impressed, and in fact a little bored. While they flashed me some Gibbs now and again it did not have the same feel. Even with hotties like Lombard, it still was stilted, and didn’t have that same ‘feeling’ that NCIS has, that pulls viewers in and addicts us. (I should say I have not yet watched the last 30 minutes of last nights eppie – my DVR was taping other things. lol) I just prefer the feeling of NCIS, the dynamics of the characters, especially the Gibbs/Abby father/daughter thing. Reminiscent, I know. It’s how I roll. (and let’s have a big “WTF!” for the fact that there is ‘gabby‘ fanfic on the net. Why did I not think this was a possibility? I should have known better, and now I am a little weirded out about the whole thing. I still love their dynamic)
Castle is getting so good! I am going to miss watching it over the summer and I am hoping that it gets picked up for a full season next year.

With seeing the Fringe (bleh, so boring) got renewed and still waiting on Dollhouse, Bones, and Castle I am getting worried about the state of TV come next season. The only good news if they don’t get renewed? I will be dropping cable to almost nothing. Because that is all that will be left on TV.

I know I wanted to blog about this, and I am thinking of saving it all up and doing a super duper blog all about Dollhouse, and how Joss is the king of all media (take that Oprah!) But I haven’t got it where I like it yet, sooooo. I Need to stress to everyone I meet that they should be watching Dollhouse. There is only one episode left (this friday) but you can see all the previous at a slew of different places on line (I love me some Hulu). Last weeks episode, ‘Briar Rose’ was the best so far, and holy batshit batman, was there a moment of WTF! (I was good and was not spoiled by the internets and their spoiling nature) The actors were all amazing, the story oh so juicy. I won’t detail it now. Because you need to go WATCH DOLLHOUSE!

I don’t know how it happened, but I ended up back at home yesterday with 8 more books for my ever growing need to read pile of books. I have told myself (and I mean it this time!) that I won’t buy any more until this pile is down to one or two left to read. Because, I need to save my pennies for other things. On the plus side, I did get 7 of them for the same price that ONE cost me at the big bookstore. Ugh. I need to learn, full price is just lame. That book better be worth it! because I have to say, one of the latest books, “Ruslan” was so not worth it. I am sending out the Avoid This Book signal. Never read it. Please. I barely got that far in it, and I knew knew KNEW I should have stopped reading after the first page. Ugh. Just, yeah. This book is now sitting in my ‘things for Goodwill’ pile. Bleh. Aw well. Hits and Misses, you know how that goes.

Bird news… it’s been raining (typical Seattle Weather) and Havisham has been making his regular appearances. He was sitting in the feeder this morning, out of the rain, sleeping! So cute. I hope he stays safe and healthy. He is my favorite little birdy.

word of warning… Bubbletown is crack. (check msn, free games) total crack!

Now back to work.
